Our Vision

To go all over to build confidence in swimming in all sources of water everywhere by connecting the world to submerged breathing.

Our Mission

It is the mission of New Wave Swim Technique to approach swimming by focusing on vitality and consciousness. By promoting growth between and within the mind and the body, we connect individuals to the life source that is water. As students navigate this energy, through different stages and levels, our goal is to create synergy between life and swimming, productivity and performance, commitment and follow through.

Whether its traditional lessons or through our mobile means, we strive to become the premiere standard for how swimming is introduced, taught and mastered, granting each person the ability to be holistically comfortable before, during and after every encounter in the water, regardless of whether they are in a pool or the ocean, making it likely for swimming to become a permanent part of their lives.

Our History

Imagine being deep in the Caribbean, in St. Catherine, Jamaica, at a riverbank, with families all around. A little boy with gusto, underestimating the distance between his jump from the hill to the further out shallow end than the closer in the deeper end and a subsequently almost drowning.

That would be how Nemardo Singleton got introduced to the water, and his acquaintance with swimming would follow soon after. Within a few years, by age 12, he was doing it competitively.

A lifeguard at age 15 would bring him to the National Stadium in Jamaica and exposure to the Swim Jamaica National Learn to Swim program. During this time, Mr. Singleton had access to some of the nation’s top coaches. As an athlete, he continued training as a competitive swimmer, a lifeguard, and a water polo player. It was also at this time that he began apprenticing as a coach, instructing in the sports he was training in, in addition to the Swim Jamaica Learn to Swim program, synchronized swimming, and life-saving techniques.

By 20 he was enrolled in the National Assistance Coaching program. With more time passing and his swimming and coaching taking him further out, his skills and aspirations would be acknowledged by The Gleaner. At age 22, the national paper of Jamaica quoted Mr. Singleton in the July 04, 2011 edition, as saying, “his main” goal is to teach the sport professionally.

Currently living in the United States, Coach Singleton is an internationally certified Swim Coach with World Aquatics, formerly FINA. His style and approach to coaching is a strategic process that begins with comfort in the water, then learning connects being in the water with swim technique, and ends with participants emerging as confident swimmers.
