At New Wave Swim Technique, learning to swim is more than a skill—it is a generational investment in safety, confidence, and lifelong connection to water. Led by USA Swimming–certified Coach Nemardo Singleton, our program combines structure, empathy, and expert guidance to support swimmers of all abilities, including those with special needs and diverse learning styles.

Connection first. Comfort second. Confidence third. This sequence guides every lesson, building trust, ease, and lasting skill. We measure progress not just by performance, but by how safely, confidently, and independently each swimmer moves through the water—because it’s not just the place, it’s wherever water is, and families deserve to feel prepared wherever they go.

New Wave Swim Technique is proud to serve the Sealy community by helping swimmers and families build lifelong safety, confidence, and comfort in the water. Led by USA Swimming–certified Coach Nemardo Singleton, our program follows a proven approach—Connection first, Comfort second, Confidence third—ensuring every swimmer develops skills that last far beyond the pool.

Our Story

It began not in a pool, but at a riverbank in St. Catherine, Jamaica—surrounded by family, laughter, and the rhythm of everyday life. A young boy, full of confidence and curiosity, misjudged the distance between land and water.

One jump placed him closer to danger than safety. In that moment—between panic and rescue—Nemardo Singleton was introduced to the power of water, and to the reality that water does not forgive uncertainty. What could have ended in tragedy became a turning point.

His relationship with water deepened, not through fear, but through understanding. Within a few years, swimming became not only a skill, but a discipline. By age twelve, he was competing. By fifteen, he was serving as a lifeguard and training within Jamaica’s National Learn-to-Swim Program under some of the country’s top coaches.

What began as a life-changing moment became a lifelong mission.

Today, New Wave Swim Technique exists to ensure every swimmer develops not only the ability to move through water—but the confidence to exist in it safely, anywhere in the world.

Currently living in the United States, Coach Singleton is an internationally certified Swim Coach with World Aquatics, formerly FINA. His style and approach to coaching is a strategic process that begins with comfort in the water, then learning connects being in the water with swim technique, and ends with participants emerging as confident swimmers.
